About the position

At Bloomberg Finance, we are committed to providing world-class support to our business partners by delivering insights on business performance, financial oversight, and thought leadership. We are currently seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to provide financial and operational reporting in support of the Engineering and Chief Technology Office (CTO). As a leading member of this team, you will have the opportunity to deliver a unique blend of financial and operational analysis, financial modeling, and reporting, along with senior management support in a fast-paced and cutting-edge business environment. The Technology Finance Group is responsible for the strategic planning, management, and reporting for the firm's Engineering and CTO divisions. In addition, we provide analysis, decision support, and execution support to these stakeholders, as well as to business and finance counterparts across Bloomberg. You will be tasked with providing deep dive analytics around Engineering and CTO Office P&Ls, which could include headcount, travel and entertainment expenses, and allocation methodology. This role will allow you to experiment and innovate in your analysis. You will assist in transforming management reporting within the group by utilizing business intelligence tools to build dashboards, create custom visualizations, and conduct ad hoc analysis on large data sets using tools such as Excel, QLIK, Access, Tableau, or others as needed. Your responsibilities will also include managing, building, and optimizing information gathering processes on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or forecasting cycle basis. You will review and present regular financial results packages for management, analyzing performance against forecasts and operational metrics, as well as historical headcount and expense trends. Your goal will be to enhance existing processes and propose improvements to streamline the collection, use, and presentation of data. Additionally, you will manage ad hoc special projects or analyses, including operational analytics for decision support to management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide deep dive analytics around Engineering and CTO Office P&Ls, including headcount, T&E, and allocation methodology.
  • Assist in the transformation of management reporting using business intelligence tools to build dashboards and custom visualizations.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of financial experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or related fields
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-moving environment
  • Superior Microsoft Excel skills (VBA a plus)

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial services or a financial data provider industry
  • High curiosity level and desire to learn
  • Familiarity with the Bloomberg terminal
  • Knowledge of enterprise software applications e.g. SAP
  • Experience with data visualization applications e.g. Tableau or Qlik
