About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst (Financial Analyst IV) position at the Texas Space Commission involves performing advanced financial analysis and regulatory work in a fast-paced environment. The role focuses on the administration of financial processes, evaluation of financial data, and support of the Commission's strategic initiatives. The analyst will prepare reports, respond to inquiries, and recommend actions to resolve financial and regulatory issues while maintaining confidentiality and meeting tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the administration of the Commission's financial processes and systems.
  • Oversees third-party financial reviews, including data accumulation, financial modeling, reporting, and monitoring of responses.
  • Develops and implements effective techniques for evaluating the Commission's financial programs and strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinates, monitors, and implements financial analyses of the Commission's grant programs and initiatives to assess their impact on financial management.
  • Monitors required performance reports and disbursements, prepares reports of findings, and recommends actions or changes for assigned initiatives.
  • Develops financial and/or regulatory plans.
  • Formulates financial models to simulate anticipated financial performance based on changes in laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Integrates conflicting programmatic and financial objectives into recommendations for management.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in financial analysis and regulatory work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Experience with CAPPS Financials.
  • Previous experience working at a government agency (local/state/federal).
