About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst in Fiscal Services is responsible for producing and analyzing complex reports that support strategic and operational decision-making at University of Michigan Health-West. This role involves conducting comprehensive data and trend analysis, managing the annual budgeting process, and assisting with financial close processes. The analyst will utilize financial and statistical tools to present findings to various audiences, ensuring data integrity and quality improvement within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and develop department cost studies for the UMHW.
  • Evaluate and accumulate overhead allocation statistics.
  • Reconcile and analyze actual cost versus standard cost on a quarterly basis.
  • Assist Reimbursement Supervisor in the development and maintenance of UMHW Chargemaster.
  • Develop and produce routine and complex reports from EPSI and other Fiscal Services systems.
  • Conduct comprehensive data and trend analyses using appropriate data sources and statistical models.
  • Analyze data integrity to maintain departmental standards of excellence and continuous quality improvement.
  • Serve as liaison to hospital management to resolve fiscal services related matters.
  • Coordinate data collection for all survey and statistic requests within the Hospital.
  • Compile, analyze and report data to the Michigan Hospital Association.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, mathematics, or related field.
  • Three to five years experience with generally accepted accounting principles, statistical data collection and analysis, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Knowledge of health system regulatory guidelines and experience in healthcare setting.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in database, graphic and statistical software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of EPIC, PowerBI, AFM, and EPSI.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple priority projects simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • A certified public accounting certificate and/or master's degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with computer applications specific to data mining, analysis, reporting and integration of data from source systems to report software.
