About the position

Vanguard is seeking a Financial Analyst to provide consultative support to internal clients by preparing analyses and models that facilitate strategic decision-making. This role involves collaborating with senior leaders to understand financial needs and contribute to the annual planning process, making the analyst an integral part of Vanguard's business landscape and success.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Senior Leadership and their management teams to prepare financial analyses and models that assist in the evaluation of strategic business initiatives, capital investments, new/existing clients, and new products and services.
  • Conduct pricing analyses for clients and new products/services; perform cost-benefit analysis using discounted cash flow methods to quantify impacts on revenue, operating expenses, assets, and cash flow.
  • Perform client and business segment profitability analysis using activity-based costing methods to allocate revenue and expenses.
  • Work independently on complex issues and assignments, creating new ways to analyze and solve difficult problems.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with internal business clients to understand their ongoing financial analysis needs.
  • Create financial and non-financial measures of business performance for project and investment evaluation and control.
  • Engage in the annual planning process and ongoing quarterly forecasts, validating the rationale for multi-year financial forecasts and explaining variances.
  • Prepare and present quarterly finance review presentations to the Senior Leadership team of the supported business area.
  • Disseminate timely and accurate financial information for efficient use and control over financial resources.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree and/or professional certification (CPA, CFM, or CMA) preferred.
  • Minimum five years of directly related FP&A (or equivalent) experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and drive solutions.
  • Broad knowledge and perspective of Vanguard business preferred.
  • Experience in financial services industry or consulting preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience in Hyperion Essbase and PeopleSoft Financials required.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to quickly become knowledgeable in current and future policies, practices, trends, and information affecting Vanguard's business.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
