About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst position at Eversource Energy is a critical role within the Finance Budget & Investment Planning team. This hybrid role involves independent work and collaboration to provide financial analysis, research, and reporting in support of strategic initiatives for both regulated and unregulated subsidiaries. The analyst will be responsible for budget development, financial performance reporting, and providing insights to management to aid in decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and develop annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
  • Create or improve financial performance reporting, including detailed analysis of Budget versus Actual spending and forecast versus actual spending for Expense and Capital Projects.
  • Review, analyze, and assess project financials, identifying anomalies and discrepancies, and report findings to management.
  • Provide financial and economic analysis to support Strategic Planning and other operating areas in assessing long-term initiatives and opportunities.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for all levels of management, including the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Create financial and economic models of various scenarios to assist with current and future business planning decisions.
  • Participate in on-call Emergency Response assignments as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Six (6) plus years of related experience required.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of financial and economic methodologies and theories.
  • Ability to understand the fiscal impact of business decisions.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently and produce accurate work.
  • Detail-oriented problem solver with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in PC desktop applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, Access, and other programs within the Microsoft Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or advanced degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.
  • Familiarity with accounting and reporting systems like Power Plan and IBM Planning Analytics.
