About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst role at Sempra is focused on performing Treasury activities, including forecasting, financial reporting, and capital markets analysis. This position plays a critical role in supporting the Corporate Finance department by managing long-term debt, equity, and derivatives transactions, while also preparing presentation materials and conducting research across various functions. The analyst will interact with both internal groups and external advisors to deliver results for high-visibility projects, ensuring effective communication with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Review rating agency publications and monitor credit metrics, including preparation and maintenance of internal credit metric models.
  • Support Corporate Finance personnel in understanding and modeling economic and credit rating impacts of Sempra and business unit opportunities.
  • Respond to ad hoc data-research and analysis requests from executives and business units, including those associated with regulatory proceedings.
  • Support recurring financial reporting and analyses related to debt, equity, and derivatives transactions for quarterly 10-Q and annual 10-K reporting.
  • Analyze and execute various financial transactions, including long-term debt, equity, and interest rate and foreign exchange hedging.
  • Partner with Corporate Accounting to determine the proper application of GAAP to novel financing structures and hedging approaches.
  • Prepare high-quality presentation materials as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field is required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in corporate finance, treasury, financial reporting, financial or business planning, consulting, or banking environment is required.
  • Strong computer/presentation skills are required.
  • Highly organized team player with the ability to respond to changes in work scope and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a diverse audience.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA CMA, MBA and/or other professional certifications/advanced degrees is preferred.
  • Advanced skills with Excel and financial modeling.
  • Experience with developing and analyzing financial statements.
  • Familiarity with Hyperion Financial Management.
  • Experience with Bloomberg.
