About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst II, Business Finance Solutions position is designed to provide comprehensive financial support for Corporate Activities and Human Resources, while also gaining familiarity with other Operating Units (OUs) that the Senior Manager oversees. The primary responsibilities include the development of the annual budget and monthly forecasts for these OUs, as well as analyzing financial results to highlight operational variances and identify and resolve issues. The individual will work closely with OU staff and senior management to achieve these objectives, ensuring that financial advice is accurate and that staff are educated on all aspects of financial management. In addition to regular financial reporting, the incumbent will drive ad-hoc projects and process improvements to enhance client operations and financial reporting. This role requires a high level of independence, as the individual will be expected to complete most tasks with minimal supervision. As the primary finance subject matter expert for designated clients, the Senior Financial Analyst will provide necessary reporting on actuals, forecasts, and budgets, while also conducting periodic reviews of existing processes to recommend and implement changes as needed. Strong leadership skills are essential, as the individual will occasionally lead meetings and facilitate effective interactions between Business Finance Solutions staff and OU staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage finances for the Corporate Activities and Human Resources operating units, including budget & forecasting, financial reporting, and P&L ad hoc analysis.
  • Consolidate and analyze total Corporate Activities and HR financial trends by cost center and OU.
  • Interface and partner with OU staff to plan, implement, and create budgets and forecasts, providing financial analysis and consultation as needed.
  • Streamline processes and ensure tools used to develop financials are efficient, working closely with IEEE Financial Planning & Analysis and IT staff to automate processes.
  • Act as the key point of contact with the Controller's office for general ledger adjustments, accruals, and allocations.
  • Conduct ad hoc projects and analysis as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of related experience demonstrating an intermediate to advanced level of knowledge of business, accounting, and financial administration procedures and practices, financial systems, and budgeting and forecasting.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work well with various levels of staff and volunteers, including IEEE senior management and volunteer leadership.
  • Ability to provide senior executives and staff members with critical data and reports to enhance strategic planning, forecasting, and analytical functions.
  • Ability to undertake complex financial analyses including budgeting, trend analysis, forecasting, and financial modeling.
  • Strong technical and financial knowledge, including understanding of accounting and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite with strong Excel skills; knowledge of Oracle Cloud and EPM ad hoc reporting is a plus.
  • Ability to utilize financial data and information to make sound recommendations that promote data-based decision making and cost effectiveness.
  • Successful record of increasing efficiency, accuracy, and financial visibility by creating, streamlining, and improving processes, systems, and reports.
