About the position

CBS News is seeking a detail-oriented and strategically minded Senior Financial Analyst to join its finance team. The role involves performing various financial activities such as financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, building financial models, preparing reports, and conducting research and analysis using large data sets. The ideal candidate will be organized, solution-oriented, and proactive, reporting to the FP&A Senior Manager of CBS News.

Responsibilities

• Create financial models and perform complex scenario analysis for projects across multiple business units.
• Work with the FP&A Director to manage capital expenditure requests, cloud computing costs, and news archive financials.
• Assist in the monthly close process, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis.
• Identify trends in financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Collaborate with the CBS News & Operations team on the monthly forecast and assist in the development and preparation of the annual budget and long-range financial plan.
• Prepare monthly budget performance reports for CBS News departments and broadcasts.
• Update and provide trend analysis for overtime & operations dashboard.
• Work with business units to manage overtime and reduce costs to CBS News.
• Assist FP&A leaders in preparing presentations and other key materials for the CBS News leadership team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Finance, Analytics, or a related area.
• 4 to 5+ years of experience in financial planning, analysis, and financial modeling; experience in investment banking, consulting, or corporate development is preferred.
• Exceptional Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling skills.
• Strong understanding of corporate finance concepts and accounting principles.
• Proactive, self-starter with multi-tasking abilities to manage competing priorities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving and critical thinking ability.
• Ability to work in a team environment while managing multiple tasks independently.
• Knowledge of ERP systems and related technologies.
