About the position

Amazon's North American Customer Fulfillment (NACF) Finance is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to serve as a trusted finance partner for multiple Amazon Robotics fulfillment center locations. This role is pivotal in supporting operational and functional leaders within one of the most complex retail networks globally, which delivers billions of packages annually to homes and businesses. The successful candidate will be part of a dedicated team focused on operational and financial excellence, emphasizing ownership and continuous improvement in a dynamic environment. In this position, the Senior Financial Analyst will leverage solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models and analyses with minimal guidance. The role requires the ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations that drive results and improvements. The analyst will independently align financial and operational analyses with business partners, challenging assumptions when necessary, and providing critical analysis and recommendations to support operational and growth decisions. The role also encompasses controllership responsibilities, including ownership of financial reporting for specific business areas and the potential to supervise or mentor others in financial reporting. The analyst will identify and resolve complex data integrity issues, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the highest standards are maintained. Additionally, the position involves developing and executing scalable and auditable data analysis processes. Effective communication is essential in this role. The Senior Financial Analyst must possess excellent active listening skills to convey data clearly and concisely, adjusting communication styles based on the audience. Building strong business partnerships with site leaders and managing competing priorities will be crucial, especially during unexpected events. Team leadership is another key aspect of this role, where the analyst will seek out and value diverse perspectives, contributing positively to work/life harmony and finding creative solutions to team challenges. The work environment is fast-paced and ever-changing, requiring adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The Senior Financial Analyst will collaborate closely with senior leaders across various functions, including Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Procurement, Accounting, HR, and Technology. This role is critical in advocating for financial interests and designing performance measurements to continuously improve business economics.

Responsibilities

  • Build financial models and analyses with minimal guidance and draw conclusions to make recommendations that deliver results.
  • Align financial and operational analyses with business partners, challenging assumptions when necessary.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to business leaders to support operational and growth decisions.
  • Identify opportunities to resolve finance defects and improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance or business tools and processes.
  • Own the financial reporting for a business area and supervise or teach others in financial reporting.
  • Identify and solve complex data integrity issues and collaborate with stakeholders on resolution.
  • Develop and execute scalable and auditable data analysis processes.
  • Communicate data clearly and concisely, adjusting style based on audience to articulate complex finance issues.
  • Create effective business partnerships with site leaders and manage competing priorities.
  • Contribute positively to work/life harmony on the team and find creative solutions to solve gaps.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of tax, finance, or a related analytical field experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of experience in continuous improvement projects with measurable results.
  • MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
