About the position

National Grid is hiring a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Electric Regulatory Delivery team within New England Electric. This is a hybrid role, with visits to either the Data Drive, Waltham or Northborough office approximately 1-2 days per week. Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of our regulatory allowances and obligations, and accounting policies
  • Maintain financial reporting for Grid Modernization Program and Electric Sector Modernization Plan
  • Develop portfolio and project level accounting, tracking, and reporting capabilities
  • Maintain and update project and portfolio forecasts over multiple time horizons
  • Verify project actuals and perform variance analysis to identify deviations from forecast
  • Implement controls to monitor and correct improper charging and Operating Company allocations
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships across project teams, finance, and regulatory
  • Lead cost recovery filings including creation of cost exhibits and support documentation

Requirements

  • 3+ years of project accounting and financial modeling experience
  • Bachelor or Master's degree from an accredited institution required with a major in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge and understanding of US GAAP and IFRS, and the ability to translate accounting conclusions to business outcomes
  • Strong project accounting and management experience
  • Expert with Excel, pivot tables
  • Knowledge of electric utilities preferred
  • Ability to communicate (written, verbal, etc.) effectively
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks and determine priorities in a team environment
  • Demonstrated excellent time management, organizational skills, and prioritization skills on large scale projects involving multiple stakeholders
  • Familiarity with internal financial management systems including SAP a plus.
