About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst in Strategic Finance & Analysis at Scripps Research plays a crucial role in developing financial strategies and conducting related planning, reporting, and analysis. This position requires building strong partnerships with scientific and administrative teams to influence strategic decision-making and tactical execution, ultimately supporting the organization's mission to drive medical breakthroughs.

Responsibilities

  • Drive forecasting, annual budgeting, and long-range financial planning.
  • Provide analyses and strategic direction to ensure financial commitments are met internally and externally.
  • Develop and manage best-in-class forecasting and measurement tools and processes, defining KPIs and deriving insights for operational decision-making.
  • Evaluate processes to drive efficiencies and maximize opportunities in new initiatives and strategic investments, measuring results.
  • Support leadership in evaluating new opportunities and initiatives.
  • Prepare presentations for the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, executive team, and senior staff, performing complex financial analyses on tight deadlines.

Requirements

  • 2+ years related work experience, preferably in biotechnology, technology sectors, or life sciences academic/research institutions.
  • Strong analytic skills and ability to work in fast-paced, fluid environments.
  • Ability to understand complex business drivers and communicate insights succinctly to various audiences.
  • Adept in ambiguous situations and comfortable making decisions with limited data.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities while managing multiple commitments effectively.
  • Strategic mindset with a desire to improve the status quo.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with experience in cross-collaborative working relationships.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or similar field; background in investment banking or management consulting is a plus.
