About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) Supply Chain Finance is designed for individuals who excel in financial modeling and data analysis to influence business decisions. This position focuses on improving financial controllership processes and involves managing the FP&A and Month End Close (MEC) processes. The analyst will work closely with various teams to provide insights and support for business expansion, ensuring effective tracking and explanation of variances to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own FP&A and Month End Close (MEC) process from end to end, ensuring variances are tracked and explained to executive management.
• Earn trust across AWS Infrastructure Finance and partner FP&A teams to learn the business.
• Identify opportunities to resolve defects proactively and challenge existing processes.
• Develop ways to scale and automate existing Opex tracking processes, eliminating manual processes.
• Conduct ad hoc analysis requests, working with ambiguous data to derive insights.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, information systems, finance, or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses.
• 3+ years of experience creating process improvements with automation and analysis.
• 3+ years of experience identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance or business tools and processes.
• Experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).

Nice-to-haves

• 4+ years of experience participating in continuous improvement projects with measurable results.
• MBA or CPA certification.
• Knowledge of Tableau.
• Experience with advanced SQL for data mining and business intelligence.
