About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst in Unitization Management at DTE Energy plays a crucial role in performing business financial processes, including project evaluation, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. This position is integral to establishing both long-term and short-term financial plans, consolidating budgets, and analyzing business performance. The role also involves supporting various financial functions across the organization, with opportunities for rotation into different departments such as Audit Services and Treasury.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex financial information to prepare budgets and forecasts, identifying opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Report and analyze business performance, producing variance reports and preparing inputs for monthly board reports.
  • Analyze capital projects and new business opportunities, developing alternatives and recommendations based on corporate standards.
  • Utilize Activity Based Cost models to analyze costs and identify opportunities for cost savings, collaborating with Business Unit leaders.
  • Monitor performance in relation to balanced scorecard measures and implement continuous improvement methodologies to drive cost efficiency.
  • Create a positive working environment by supporting DTE Energy and CFO initiatives, including training, diversity, and work-life balance.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of relevant job experience in financial analysis or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills for presenting information both in writing and orally.
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills with effective time and work management capabilities.
  • Understanding of accounting operations and knowledge of budgets and forecasts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with financial auditing and regulatory filings.
  • Familiarity with lean systems methodology and continuous improvement practices.
