About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst position at Battelle involves collaborating with operations and business development leadership to enhance capture strategy, execution, and business decisions. This role focuses on program cost control, estimating functional requirements, and financial management for various contract sizes and types, ensuring compliance with government regulations and contractual terms.

Responsibilities

  • Independently provides knowledge in program cost controls and estimating functional requirements for all contract sizes and types.
  • Assists with pricing strategy, modeling, and analysis to improve win percentage and profitability.
  • Participates in the proposal process for large, strategic opportunities, including bid/no-bid decisions and providing input to the cost and overall pricing strategy.
  • Identifies areas for improvement and cost savings, working collaboratively across the organization to resolve issues.
  • Prepares final proposal pricing in the required format and completes program set-up activities.
  • Works with Program Management to design and implement Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Supports Program Management and finance team with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, execution, monitoring, and control.
  • Identifies and mitigates business risk in collaboration with Program and Finance Management.
  • Establishes contract Estimates at Complete (EAC) for correct revenue recognition.
  • Supports the preparation and coordination of the Annual Operating Plan and quarterly financial forecasts.
  • Performs analysis and prepares reports to ensure contracts are within negotiated budgets.
  • Conducts cost and schedule risk assessments to mitigate program risk.
  • Performs variance analysis for actual costs incurred versus both plan and forecast.
  • Ensures timely submission of contract invoices and payment.
  • Completes both internal and external reporting requirements on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Assigns and directs activities of junior staff to develop them professionally and identifies gaps in Business Acumen with program staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with 8 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Master's degree preferred).
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office products, including Excel proficiency.
  • Demonstrated organization, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility with a high commitment to achieve deadlines.
  • Basic understanding of Earned Value Metrics (EVM) and its impact on both cost and schedule.
  • Prior program cost control experience preferred.
