About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst position is a contract role focused on conducting comprehensive financial analysis and modeling to support business decisions within the electric utility industry. The role involves developing and reviewing monthly operating statements, analyzing reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and modeling to support business decisions.
  • Develop and review monthly operating statements comparing actual results to budget and forecast.
  • Analyze monthly operating and maintenance reports and discuss results with Management.
  • Provide status reports and updates to management in a timely manner.
  • Attend meetings with contractors and company personnel on cost control matters.
  • Interface and coordinate with other corporate and operations groups.
  • Abide by cost and planning control policy and procedures.
  • Consolidate O&M spend forecasting and budgeting reports (Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly).
  • Compile, review, and present monthly forecasting schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, standards, and internal policies (SOX compliance).
  • Review Economic Models to assist data analysis.
  • Individual plan forecasting and budgeting.
  • Partner with business partners to review actuals, variance comments, and forecast updates.
  • Proactively update month-to-date spend with business.
  • Recurring reporting.
  • Other ad hoc activities as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of directly related experience.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP and Excel for creating, compiling, and reviewing monthly forecasting schedules.
  • Experience managing operations and maintenance budgets and forecasting for multiple cost centers or business units.
  • Experience leading monthly budget review calls (SOX compliance).
  • Accounting or Finance background preferred.
  • Transparent and open communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team on a daily basis.
  • Ability to lead and manage meetings.
