About the position

The position is responsible for supporting the Director of Finance and CFO in managing corporate finance and investor relations. The role involves drafting communications, preparing presentations, updating investor materials, and assisting with financial analysis and compliance reporting. It requires a proactive approach to investor engagement and collaboration with various departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Draft press releases for property acquisitions, dispositions, debt and equity offerings, and executive promotions.
  • Design, maintain, and enhance investor relations materials, including PowerPoint presentations for investor meetings.
  • Update investor presentation (flipbook) with quarterly financials, capital structure, return on acquisitions and dispositions, invested capital, dividend payments, and regional data.
  • Update the company website for changes in trustees, management, property information, and company performance.
  • Monitor analyst coverage and estimates of the firm and other industry data for Washington, D.C.
  • Assist in preparing responses to institutional investors and identify new institutional investors.
  • Develop a marketing program for meetings with institutional investors.
  • Discuss and answer questions about the company with shareholders.
  • Provide documentation and analysis for debt/equity offerings and assist with due diligence material gathering.
  • Track projected debt covenant compliance and update financial models with budget information and forecasts.
  • Assist in analysis for monthly meetings with senior management on reforecast versus budget.
  • Submit loan assumption applications and liaise with Accounting regarding documentation for new loans.
  • Assist internal and external auditors with SOX testing requests as needed.
  • Network among peers in the industry and attend industry/educational conferences.
  • Prepare schedules for loan compliance reporting for lines of credit and mortgages as required.
  • Update earnings model with actual results and reconcile performance with budget.
  • Draft finance pages for supplements and earnings press releases, including earnings conference call scripts.
  • Complete Moody's Supplemental Info request and respond to S&P requests.
  • Maintain peer group performance comparison on major growth metrics.
  • Prepare capital markets updates for quarterly Board reporting materials.
  • Prepare finance materials for the Board retreat binder and integrate materials from other departments.
  • Input budget into earnings and adjust financing assumptions as appropriate.
  • Help prepare earnings guidance release and review annual report and proxy materials.
  • Assist with preparation of materials for the annual meeting and complete Standard & Poor's property database.
  • Create Investor Day presentation, research targeted investors, and assist with event planning.
  • Communicate the firm's brand and identity to employees and provide necessary information for consistent corporate communication.
  • Travel as required to meet with investors and maintain a property photo library.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' work experience in finance or investor relations.
  • Strong communication skills for drafting press releases and presentations.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis.
  • Experience with investor relations materials and corporate communications.
  • Ability to monitor and analyze financial data and industry trends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SOX compliance and auditing processes.
  • Familiarity with capital markets and investor engagement strategies.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and compliance requirements.
