About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst will manage a multi-million dollar portfolio of state and federal funds for the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC) program at Baylor College of Medicine. This role involves overseeing daily expenditures, developing detailed financial reports, and maintaining communication with stakeholders to ensure budget alignment and effective fund utilization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, prepare and distribute detailed monthly financial reports to 6 initiative leaders of BCM TCHMCC consortium.
  • Provide budget projections to support PI decision making and avoid over- or under-spending.
  • Monitor financial transactions and activities by compiling, reviewing, and reconciling across the TCMHCC consortium portfolio.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and detailed reporting to TCMHCC, BCM, and external sponsors.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with TCMHCC BCM Project Leads and department administration to understand anticipated expenses.
  • Reconcile actual expenses against budget projections, investigating discrepancies or variances.
  • Create, manage, and review purchase orders (POs) in BCM's procurement system, Jaggaer.
  • Collaborate with Senior Research Administration Associate to adjust overarching program agreements and financial budgets in SAP S4-Hana.
  • Review contracts to capture key financial information for budgeting purposes.
  • Provide insight into financial trends that may affect future budget decisions and expenditure plans.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in Finance or directly related field (such as an MBA with a Finance specialization) and two years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with SAP/Jaggaer/Concur.
  • Post award grants administration experience.
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Teamwork.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in Excel.
