About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst will provide comprehensive accounting, pricing, inventory, strategic, and financial support across all areas of the company. This role is pivotal in the planning, forecasting, modeling, reporting, and analysis processes, ensuring that the organization operates efficiently and effectively. The position is characterized by a dynamic and fast-paced culture that encourages independent thinking and autonomy. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute positively to a team environment and fulfill all responsibilities in a professional and high-quality manner. Key responsibilities include analyzing data from the ERP system and other sources to support conclusions and recommendations, assisting with month-end financial closings, and utilizing analytics to identify issues and opportunities for process improvements. The Senior Financial Analyst will develop, implement, and maintain effective planning and analysis capabilities that provide senior leadership with the necessary analytical tools to set goals and measure company performance. Regular communication of financial and operational performance trends, both historical and forecasted, will be essential, along with the preparation of reports for quarterly board meetings and monthly/quarterly commission reports. Additionally, the role involves assisting Human Resources with financial analysis during benefit renewals, preparing for financial and bank audits, leading tax workpaper preparation, and managing insurance renewals and audits. The analyst will also lead the annual planning and forecasting in Prophix, review financial transactions for accuracy, and assess data to determine ideal selling prices for goods and services. The position requires a strong emphasis on teamwork, with the ability to work well with a diverse group of co-workers, assist in training, and promote a strong team effort to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data within the ERP system and other system sources to provide support for conclusions/recommendations.
  • Assist with the month-end financial closing as needed.
  • Use analytics to identify issues and opportunities and to help facilitate solutions and process improvements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective planning and analysis capability that will provide senior leadership with appropriate analytical tools to establish goals and measure performance of the company.
  • Routinely communicate financial and operational performance trends; historical and forecasted, using appropriate metrics.
  • Suggest trends, resulting implications, key actions, and strategic implications.
  • Review the internal and external financial reporting packages.
  • Prepare reports for quarterly board meetings.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly/quarterly commission reports.
  • Assist Human Resources with financial analysis during benefit renewals, preparation of benefit plan tax reporting, and commission planning.
  • Assist with financial and bank audits.
  • Lead tax workpaper preparation.
  • Lead insurance renewals and audits.
  • Lead the annual planning and forecasting in Prophix and maintain the forecasting spreadsheet model.
  • Review financial transactions and reports distributed by accounting to ensure accuracy.
  • Assess data and perform financial analysis to help determine the ideal selling price for goods and services.
  • Perform pricing reviews, track and report on pricing activities and the effect on company revenue and margin as needed.
  • Assist in projects throughout the company that relate to financial transactions, data, and analysis.
  • Maintain current, documented procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an analyst.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) along with efficient use of a keyboard.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, legal documents, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Always represent the company professionally in both internal and external interaction and communication.
  • Ability to write in a business-like, concise manner including memos of conclusion, reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, vendors, and the public.
  • Must demonstrate a mature and positive attitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while possessing strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently with a minimal amount of supervision while maintaining a high degree of quality and timeliness in completing essential duties.

Nice-to-haves

  • CMA or CPA.
  • Four years of experience in a public accounting environment.
