About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst Phoenix will serve as a key business partner to SHINE management and will support multiple departments within the organization. This position encompasses a broad range of responsibilities and will help the business develop, implement, and maintain key processes, including the budget, monthly/quarterly forecasts, and will support analysis & reporting of monthly/quarterly operating results. The Analyst will provide analytical support to cross-functional teams to help drive the company's operating performance and financial returns. This is a dynamic role in a startup/development company and will provide the right candidate with a multitude of exciting and challenging experiences, a lot of room for professional growth, and lucrative long-term potential.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead financial resource for Phoenix, LLC business and additional projects as needed.
  • Provide guidance and support to senior leaders in the pursuit of Company objectives.
  • Understand business strategy, model, and processes to influence stakeholders.
  • Manage P&L for an entire entity.
  • Build, maintain, and improve financial, revenue, and operational models and plans to measure and forecast the performance of the business and projects.
  • Lead and support business planning processes (long-range plan, annual operating plan, monthly/quarterly forecasts, management reporting).
  • Monitor P&L through month-end processes, provide variance analysis post-close, and report results to business leads.
  • Analyze projects, initiatives, and investments, synthesizing insights to drive better outcomes, increase revenue, or decrease costs.
  • Participate in monthly business reviews for your functional area.
  • Execute improvements to processes across SHINE and Phoenix.
  • Prepare and review visualizations of financial data to promote internal and external understanding of the company's financial results.
  • Ensure appropriate, accurate revenue recognition and invoice submittal for major customer projects.
  • Provide complex government reporting to meet expectations as a government contractor.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to evaluate risks and strategic scenarios, providing thought-leadership on financial drivers, risks, sensitivities, and trade-offs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
  • Five years of progressive financial experience preferred.
  • Experience in an FP&A-like role with mid to high level of knowledge of accounting, financial analysis, and modeling.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial concepts, GAAP, and revenue recognition principles.
  • Ability to clearly communicate financial concepts to non-Finance personnel.
  • Strong work ethic and sense of urgency.
  • Strong analytical capability with a high attention to detail.
  • Composure and presence to present and defend findings to various constituencies, including executive leadership.
  • Experience owning a business function as a finance business partner.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with the ability to create detailed, organized financial models and projections with minimal input.
