About the position

The Senior Financial & Budget Analyst at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC) is responsible for managing financial operations, budgeting, and reporting for various clinical departments. This role involves developing and maintaining comprehensive budgets, analyzing financial data, and preparing accurate financial reports to support the financial health of the institution.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed and comprehensive budgets for the UMGCCC All Funds, Practice, Shared Service and faculty groups.
  • Create and manage spreadsheets to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports for administrators.
  • Download, compile, categorize, and manipulate financial data using Quantum Analytics for reporting and forecasting.
  • Analyze budget and financial data to report forecasts for salaries, grants, and other financial areas.
  • Review and analyze financial accounts to identify trends and make projections for year-end revenue and expenses.
  • Maintain budget archives and financial data files for quick access and manipulation.
  • Support various programs by identifying data issues and assisting with financial data requests.
  • Attend financial meetings and budget training programs as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Five years of experience in financial analysis, management accounting, budgeting, auditing, or data management, with two years specifically in financial analysis or budgeting.
  • High-level working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Financials System/Analytics or similar financial databases in higher education.
  • Preferred certifications include CPA, CMA, CFM, or CIA.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with research/sponsored programs in higher education.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and independently.
