About the position

The Senior Financial & Budget Analyst at Babson College is responsible for conducting complex data analysis to support financial planning and budget development. This role involves collaborating with various college leaders, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports and budgets. The analyst will also participate in long-term financial planning and provide insights to aid management in decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and development, presentation, and implementation of the preliminary general budget and capital improvement plan.
  • Research, compile, maintain, and update budgetary and forecast data to provide management with trend analyses and recommendations.
  • Generate various complex monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for executive leadership and management.
  • Inform management of budget variances, explain causes, and measure impact on department mission and resources.
  • Consult with department managers regarding budget analysis and financial reports.
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial data for budgetary analysis and reporting.
  • Participate in the five-year financial planning process by preparing ad-hoc reports and financial analysis.
  • Prepare, review, and approve monthly and annual financial results and budget summaries.
  • Direct, process, and review all Accounts Payable and Receivables for Babson Executive Education.
  • Ensure contracts are in compliance with College policy for revenue recognition based on GAAP.
  • Direct business performance analysis, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Provide administrative support in grant accounting functions and maintain tracking systems for grants.
  • Work with Budget Office colleagues and other financial departments to ensure efficient processing of financial activity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • 8-10 years of related experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Strong customer service skills while adhering to established policies.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working with a diverse community.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong financial skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to propose new methods to perform tasks and embrace change.
  • Ability to prioritize work and work independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Workday, Adaptive, Salesforce or similar software.
  • Experience with international business.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
