About the position

Fairview Health Services is seeking a full-time Senior Financial Operations Analyst to join our team in St. Paul, Minnesota. This role is pivotal in supporting finance and operations through comprehensive analysis and critical thinking regarding financial and business performance. The Senior Operations Analyst will lead and coordinate month-end financial analysis, oversee the financial planning process, and manage financial planning reporting. This position involves completing various financial projects while ensuring the integrity of data outputs. The analyst will assist business partners with both routine and ad-hoc analyses, anticipating financial needs based on a thorough understanding of business requirements. Regular communication with business partners regarding performance and operational initiatives is essential to this role. The Senior Financial Operations Analyst will utilize system tools and critical thinking to provide detailed insights into operational performance. This includes collaborating with business partners to resolve problems, address variances, and assess current and future risks based on monthly and year-to-date results. Maintaining positive and trusting relationships with business partners and finance colleagues is crucial for maximizing performance. The analyst will employ strong communication and facilitation skills, along with a commitment to continuous improvement, to achieve desired results. In addition, the analyst will use various software applications to obtain relevant information, compare data from different sources, and validate the reasonableness of the data. This role requires performing complex financial, statistical, productivity, and cost analytics, interpreting data to uncover underlying causes, patterns, relationships, and trends. The analyst will identify areas for improvement and alternative solutions to support decision-making and process improvement activities. Leading and preparing feasibility studies and pro forma analytics for proposed projects, programs, services, or capital commitments is also a key responsibility. The analyst will manage the process and compare actual performance to projected results, providing financial support and problem-solving for operating and capital requirements. Furthermore, the Senior Financial Operations Analyst will proactively monitor revenue cycles, resource utilization, supplies, inventory, and other expense trends and issues in collaboration with business partners. Providing education, training, and coaching to business partners on the effective use of financial systems and tools, as well as how to read and interpret financial information and reports, is an important aspect of this role. The analyst will maintain knowledge and ensure departmental compliance with relevant organizational, accounting, and departmental laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards. Other responsibilities may include system testing and support related to implementation, conversion, or development as assigned.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or closely related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in analyzing financials and business operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Finance, Economics, or closely related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in analyzing financials and business operations, with at least 2 years in a healthcare setting.
  • CFA/CMA/CPA certification.
