About the position

The Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Professional plays a crucial role in analyzing and forecasting financial data to support strategic and operational decisions within the Humana IT organization. This position involves overseeing financial performance, managing budgeting and forecasting processes, and collaborating with leadership to achieve strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will work independently while cultivating business relationships and driving results in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees financial performance for the Humana IT organization and collaborates with leadership to achieve strategic plans and objectives.
  • Leads the month-end close process for departmental general ledgers including journal entries, account analysis, reconciliations, staffing models, vendor management, and AP research.
  • Manages the budgeting and forecasting processes, developing and maintaining analytical tools to evaluate financial and operational effectiveness.
  • Cultivates internal business relationships with enterprise leaders to leverage technical knowledge and performance improvement.
  • Performs advanced modeling, analysis, and reporting of financial and operational data in a dynamic environment.
  • Delivers financial results by measuring, summarizing, and presenting financial data for leadership.
  • Provides guidance on complex accounting treatment including capitalization and depreciation.
  • Participates in special project teams that may necessitate cross-functional partnerships.
  • Develops recommendations to assist with business effectiveness and efficiency, including implementation plans and ongoing monitoring of results.
  • Collaborates with leaders to determine the appropriate allocation of corporate overhead to internal products.
  • Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues, working independently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5 or more years' experience in finance/accounting, including forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong analytic skills with attention to detail.
  • Passion for contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or a related field.
  • Experience with Oracle Hyperion Smart View and Power BI.
  • Previous health insurance industry experience.
