About the position

The Sr Financial Planning Analyst plays a crucial role in developing long-range financial plans and budgets, collaborating closely with local Chief Financial Officers and Finance Business Partners. This position involves preparing financial plans based on historical trends and growth projections, analyzing monthly financial results, and identifying opportunities for improvement. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial modeling and analytical skills, along with a solid understanding of accounting practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of long-range financial plans and budgets as directed by the Manager and AVP of Financial Planning & Analysis.
  • Prepare financial plans consistent with systemwide standards based on historical trends, growth projections, and inflationary assumptions.
  • Analyze monthly financial results to ensure accuracy and support major variances.
  • Collaborate with local Chief Financial Officers and Finance Business Partners to document operational drivers of variances and identify trends for improvement.
  • Prepare the annual operating budget, including baseline budget submission and collaboration with local finance resources.
  • Conduct variance analysis as part of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close cycles.
  • Coordinate budgeting responsibilities, including training sessions and ensuring accurate budgets meet deadlines.
  • Identify accounting or financial performance issues and escalate for action planning.
  • Maximize the use of existing technology to meet organizational needs and recommend improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 3-4 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting required.
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing healthcare data preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Tableau, Hyperion, and PeopleSoft preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree (MBA, MHS, or other graduate degree with a health care concentration) preferred.
  • Familiarity with advanced financial reporting tools and data visualization software.
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior analysts and finance team members.
