About the position

The Senior Financial Systems Analyst is a pivotal role within the finance organization, tasked with maximizing the functionality of systems that record, report, and analyze financial transactions. This position is essential for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of critical data related to insurance policies, claims, and billing, which are integral to the financial reporting process. The analyst will administer Workday, a key financial system, making necessary updates to the Foundation Data Model (FDM), configuring financial modules, and maintaining related business processes. This role requires collaboration with various departments, including accounting and financial planning & analysis, to enhance reporting capabilities and streamline the monthly close process. In addition to system administration, the Senior Financial Systems Analyst will work closely with actuarial reserving teams to develop automated solutions for recording held reserves throughout the year. The analyst will coordinate with IT and HRIS teams to ensure best practices are followed and manage change processes within the Workday environment. A critical aspect of this role involves monitoring new functionalities and recommending process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. The analyst will also be responsible for conducting quality testing and user acceptance testing for system upgrades and changes, ensuring that all financial scenarios are thoroughly vetted. The position also requires providing support to external auditors during financial statement audits, ensuring that all necessary information is readily available. The Senior Financial Systems Analyst will engage in special projects as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the finance organization and the company as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Administer Workday for the Finance organization, including updates to the Foundation Data Model (FDM) and configuration of financial modules.
  • Maintain and create new allocations to accelerate the monthly close process and streamline external financial reporting.
  • Develop Workday reporting in collaboration with financial planning & analysis for standard and ad hoc internal financial reporting.
  • Work with actuarial reserving to develop an automated solution for recording held reserves throughout the year.
  • Coordinate with Workday Engineer (IT) and HRIS Analyst (HCM) to ensure best practices and manage change processes within Workday environments.
  • Review Bi-Annual Workday release features and coordinate regression testing for financial scenarios.
  • Monitor new functionality and financial systems to recommend process changes that increase operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate across the organization and with external vendors to investigate and resolve data errors and improve data integrity.
  • Monitor the development of insurance policy administration and financial system solutions, performing quality testing/user acceptance testing as required.
  • Provide information and assistance to external auditors for financial statement audits.
  • Engage in special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or systems, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in the property & casualty insurance industry performing essential functions of the position.
  • Accounting or financial reporting background with experience as an administrator of financial modules within Workday.
  • Experience with Workday is required; exposure to Adaptive Insights, Blackline, and Kainos Smart Testing is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex issues clearly and concisely.
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and consistency in work preparation.
  • Positive and professional demeanor.
