About the position

As a Senior Firmware / Electrical Engineer in our Medication Management Solutions (MMS) team, you will play a crucial role in supporting research and development projects aimed at expanding existing products and enhancing technology within the Pyxis product line. This position requires a blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in firmware and electrical design, allowing you to identify problems and accomplish tasks effectively. You will be responsible for decomposing system requirements into clear electrical and firmware specifications, as well as developing and executing test documentation for design verification. In this role, you will actively participate in the development process from concept to implementation, providing guidance and technical leadership across multiple projects. You will collaborate with other engineers and departments to advance various projects, ensuring that you manage several tasks simultaneously, each with varying priorities and complexities. Additionally, you will interface with external design partners and suppliers, contributing to the overall success of the projects. Your responsibilities will also include following BD processes, design practices, and documentation templates, as well as performing engineering documentation in SAP, which involves creating and changing materials, BOMs, plans, and reports, processing change orders, and conducting design reviews. This position is ideal for someone who is comfortable working in a dynamic environment and is eager to contribute to innovative solutions in the medical technology field.

Responsibilities

  • Support R&D projects for existing product expansions and technology enhancements of the Pyxis product line.
  • Apply theoretical and hands-on firmware and electrical support to identify problems and accomplish tasks.
  • Decompose system requirements into straightforward electrical and firmware specifications and rudimentary designs.
  • Develop and execute test documentation for electrical and firmware design verification.
  • Actively participate and provide guidance in the development efforts from concepts to implementation as a project member.
  • Understand and follow BD processes, design practices, and documentation templates.
  • Perform and/or direct engineering documentation in SAP: create/change material, BOM, plans, and reports; process change orders; and conduct design reviews.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and departments to advance projects/tasks.
  • Manage several projects at once that have varying priorities, scope, and complexity.
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Interface with external design partners and suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree and experience.
  • At least 4 years related experience, or the equivalent combination of graduate-level education and experience required.
  • Strong knowledge in hardware software interface, digital and analog circuits.
  • Desire and ability to reverse engineer both existing Firmware and Hardware.
  • Experience developing in C in a real-time embedded environment.
  • Basic RTOS operational knowledge.
  • Basic wired connectivity and communication with emphasis on LAN, RS485, I2C, and SPI.
  • Ability to read and create schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Basic product Safety and Compliance design and mitigation.
  • Knowledge in the use of laboratory tools: oscilloscope, DMM, variable DC power supply, etc.
  • Familiar with Microsoft office products.
  • Demonstrates interactive verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic wireless connectivity understanding and experience with an emphasis on Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and/or RFID.
  • Knowledge of .Net framework.
  • Familiar with source control, specifically GitHub and Perforce.
  • Experience with various microcontrollers and processors including Microchip PIC, and ARM cortex.
  • Familiar with Orcad and/or Allegro.
