About the position

This remote position is for a senior first line risk management professional responsible for supporting and executing various risk programs and activities within the Deposit & Payment Operations organization. The role involves managing risks and controls across all risk types, facilitating compliance with risk policies, and serving as a communication channel between the Chief Risk Office, regulators, and business units. The position may also involve managing the work of others and mentoring associates.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute all risk program requirements including RCSA, control assurance, issue management, and third party risk management.
  • Provide risk guidance and advice to enhance the control environment, including identifying and documenting key processes, risks, and controls.
  • Perform process observations and ensure alignment of RCSAs.
  • Develop and monitor key risk indicators and identify opportunities for mitigation.
  • Create, distribute, review, and challenge risk reporting with senior leadership in Deposit & Payment Operations.
  • Advise on risk activities and assessments related to strategic initiatives and regulatory commitments.
  • Identify and escalate risks, monitor issues, and engage with business to create mitigation plans.
  • Develop and implement issue governance routines with business leadership.
  • Develop control assurance test plans and coordinate process walkthroughs for SOX and first line controls.
  • Partner with second and third lines in testing, audits, and exams.
  • Enhance policy and regulatory change management processes to aid business in building actionable implementation plans.
  • Work with FRM leader and senior management to create risk management strategies and ensure key risks are managed appropriately.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's risk management framework, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage a book of work to identify gaps and assess capacity, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Develop test plans and methodologies for evaluating control activities and execute control testing procedures.
  • Lead the tracking and resolution of issues across the organization, ensuring timely escalation and remediation.
  • Collaborate with BU and stakeholders to develop action plans and mitigation strategies to address root causes.
  • Monitor the status and effectiveness of issue remediation efforts and provide regular updates to senior management.
  • Coordinate with other functions to ensure alignment with broader risk management and governance objectives.
  • Participate in regulatory inquiries, examinations, and audits, supporting regulatory submissions and reporting requirements.
  • Develop BU risk reports that provide a comprehensive view of risks impacting the BU and monitor BU risk and control performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Financial Services, First Line Risk, Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk, OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in the same fields.
  • Proven business functional knowledge of Large Financial Institution enterprise payment functions including debit and credit card, ACH, wires, and real-time payments.
  • Compliance certifications and/or knowledge of regulations such as Reg E, Reg CC, Reg D, UDAAP, BSA/AML.
  • Knowledge of risk techniques, practices, and control frameworks.
  • Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate and influence associates and senior management.
