About the position

The Sr First Line Risk Manager - Treasury Management is a hybrid role responsible for supporting the General Bank in managing risks associated with treasury management and merchant services. This position serves as a first line of defense risk professional, engaging with business units to manage risks and controls, facilitating risk policy execution, and providing advisory support. The role also involves regulatory engagement and communication between the Risk Management Department and business units, with potential management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Work with FRM leader and senior management to create risk management strategies ensuring key risks are appropriately managed.
• Provide BU risk considerations for business/strategic plans and challenge risk program outputs for alignment with bank and regulatory standards.
• Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's risk management framework, policies, and procedures.
• Coordinate risk assessments to evaluate and manage key risks across the organization.
• Manage a book of work to identify gaps and assess capacity, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and prioritization of risk management initiatives.
• Develop test plans and methodologies for evaluating the effectiveness of control activities and execute control testing procedures.
• Lead the tracking and resolution of issues across the organization, ensuring timely escalation and remediation.
• Collaborate with BU and stakeholders to develop action plans and mitigation strategies to address root causes and prevent issue recurrence.
• Monitor the status and effectiveness of issue remediation efforts, providing regular updates and reports to senior management.
• Coordinate with other functions to ensure alignment with broader risk management and governance objectives.
• Participate in regulatory inquiries, examinations, and audits in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
• Support regulatory submissions, response, and reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor regulatory developments and findings and assess their potential impact on the organization's risk profile and regulatory compliance.
• Develop BU risk reports that provide a comprehensive view of risks impacting the BU and monitor BU risk and control performance.
• Advise BU senior leadership in relevant risk governance meetings and provide feedback on governance documents.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in First Line Risk, Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in First Line Risk, Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk.
• First- or second-line experience directly supporting treasury management and/or merchant services.
• Knowledge of risk techniques, practices, and control frameworks.
• Knowledge of various banking and government regulatory requirements and processes.
• Ability to work effectively with associates, senior management, and various committees.
• Knowledge of regulatory guidance pertaining to enterprise risk and operational risk.
