About the position

IAT Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Underwriter for its Commercial Truck Team, focusing on the fleet segment. The role involves evaluating and managing risk assessments for multi-line underwriting, particularly for fleet and large trucks. The position supports a hybrid work schedule, allowing for both in-office collaboration and remote work, and requires occasional travel to meet with agents and assess accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, assess, price, and recommend handling of accounts beyond the agent's granted authority.
  • Manage, evaluate, analyze, and assess the book of new and renewal business, making recommendations on pricing and coverage considerations.
  • Interpret, trend, and develop loss information from prior carriers, analyzing financial information, and preparing reports for each account.
  • Travel to work with assigned agents to evaluate submission flow and account acceptability.
  • Maintain open communication with assigned agency partners for holistic agency management.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and build effective working relationships with agency personnel and internal staff.
  • Drive new business opportunities through effective marketing to assigned agents.
  • Communicate effectively with assigned agents to ensure understanding of company direction.
  • Perform other tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least five years of experience in commercial insurance.
  • Experience in managing agents in a given territory.
  • Knowledge of the transportation/Class A trucking insurance industry.
  • Ability to creatively utilize coverage features, deductibles, or reinsurance on individual risks.
  • Strong math aptitude and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in various computer programs, internet-based programs, and spreadsheets.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring VISA sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPCU, ARM, or AU industry designations.
  • INS21, 22, and 23 or equivalent.
