About the position

The Senior Flight Software Architect at ITEC is responsible for overseeing the entire software lifecycle, from design to implementation, testing, and mission operations. This role requires a deep understanding of software engineering principles, particularly in the context of flight software and embedded systems. The architect will lead a team of engineers, ensuring the production of high-quality software that meets mission-critical requirements for the DoD and Intelligence community.

Responsibilities

• Apply software engineering principles and practices focused on flight software and embedded systems.
• Participate in all elements of the software lifecycle including requirements, development, testing, and integration.
• Generate software architecture solutions for new project needs and document findings.
• Communicate results to engineering and program management staff and give technical presentations.
• Manage technical effort schedules and coordinate workloads of an engineering unit to meet deadlines.

Requirements

• Complete understanding of software development concepts, principles, and theory.
• Hands-on technical expertise in C/C++ and Python programming languages.
• Knowledge of embedded software in resource-constrained environments and embedded Linux.
• Experience with GIT version control, Agile development processes, and standards.
• Experience with designing real-time, embedded Flight Software (FSW) and firmware (FW) for satellite systems.
• Strong communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to mentor junior software engineers and develop a cohesive team.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of modern front-end web frameworks such as React.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud services and Docker or other containerization services.
• Experience with ground software for satellite systems.
