About the position

The Senior Flight Test Engineer at Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) will provide Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E) flight test engineering and management for SOCOM Special Operations AC/MC-130J aircraft and other PEO Fixed Wing programs. This role involves collaborating with government customers to deliver effective solutions, ensuring safety coordination, and managing flight test efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide flight test engineering expertise to USSOCOM weapon system development.
  • Act as Test Director for instrumentation and data collection assets.
  • Lead and participate in flight test event planning, test execution, data management, data collection and data distribution.
  • Develop and review test objectives, plans and other required documentation.
  • Coordinate and provide requirements for test venues, test assets and participants across the DOD community.
  • Prepare countdown checklists, supporting test planning products and coordinate analysis activities.
  • Apply technical expertise to assess test range, weapon system or technology project readiness for testing and advise senior government personnel on test readiness.
  • Prepare mission execution schedules, logistics coordination and track status and risk.
  • Interface with other government and range organizations and development contractors.
  • Assist in directing test operation efforts across test and operations communities to meet programmatic timelines and overcome resource and schedule challenges, as needed.
  • Facilitate the safety and aircraft modification coordination process.
  • Aid in operations and maintenance support planning with contract maintenance teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or science.
  • 12+ years of squadron operations and test and evaluation experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Understanding/significant experience with installed aircraft systems/subsystems and support equipment.
  • Experience/knowledge of avionics/mission systems, munitions systems, and comm/radar systems.
  • Working knowledge of OSD and Air Force T&E policies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products with emphasis on MS Project and/or any other scheduling programs.
  • Active Secret Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active Top-Secret clearance.
  • Test Pilot School Graduate (USN/USAF).
  • Master of Science degree in engineering, 7+ years of squadron operations and test experience.
  • Experience preparing briefings and documentation.
  • Experience preparing flight test documents; Universal Documentation System (UDS) including Program Requirements Document (PRD) and Operation Requirements (OR).
  • Experience preparing mission execution checklists and countdown documents.
  • Experience testing at various test ranges.
