About the position

The Senior Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer at Boeing will lead teams in developing and operating flight instrumentation electro/mechanical design solutions to support multi-program test activities. This role requires strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, with a focus on ensuring flight instrumentation system readiness and data validity. The position involves collaboration with various technical disciplines and may require travel to alternate test sites.

Responsibilities

  • Leads others in the development of standard test methods and processes and applies advanced test technologies to create or improve test methods
  • Writes invention disclosures to protect Boeing Intellectual Property
  • Prepares R&D proposals and presents to internal management and external customers
  • Applies emerging industry technologies to develop test procedures
  • Reviews critical procedures to identify potential problems and resolve issues
  • Develops innovative metrology design techniques, processes, methods, or concepts
  • Oversees the integration of new design and manufacturing techniques into test hardware/system designs
  • Analyzes processes for potential improvements and recommends associated changes
  • Develops the standard policies for post-test activity
  • Resolves or oversees resolution of special test procedures
  • Works with the enterprise test and engineering group to standardize evaluation techniques
  • Formulates expectations for test data for new or unique tests
  • Trains and coaches others
  • Works under consultative direction

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 9+ years of experience in lab test, flight test, or similar test environment
  • 9+ years of experience in an engineering role
  • Ability to accurately differentiate between colors for safety of flight and safety of test displays during real-time flight test missions

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
  • 1+ years of experience designing special test equipment for flight programs and supporting proposals
  • 1+ years of experience with precision test and measurement devices
  • 3+ years of experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) or something similar
  • 9+ years of experience with flight test, flight operations, or system test
