About the position

The Senior Fluids Systems Valve Design Engineer at Blue Origin plays a crucial role in the development and operations of the Glenn heavy-lift launch vehicle. This position involves the design, analysis, development, and qualification of advanced valve systems for the Glenn rocket, ensuring safe and efficient human spaceflight. The engineer will oversee the complete life cycle of valve systems, from conceptual design to component development and testing, while collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to procure and fabricate flight hardware.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and develop valve systems for the Glenn rocket.
• Oversee the complete life cycle of valve systems from definition to operation.
• Collaborate with suppliers to procure components and materials.
• Conduct flow and structural integrity analysis under various conditions.
• Create engineering drawings with GD&T standards.
• Participate in the testing and verification of flight hardware.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience in aerospace fluid or mechanical systems design.
• Experience in aerospace valve design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD programs, preferably Creo.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools, preferably ANSYS.
• Solid understanding of fluid components such as valves and pressurized hardware.
• Ability to maintain positive professional relationships and contribute to an inclusive culture.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience with Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Methane systems.
• Experience in system layout for launch vehicles or cryogenic systems.
• Familiarity with thermo-fluid solver applications like Thermal Desktop and AFT.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assemblies or pressurized systems.
