Choice Hotels is seeking a Senior FP&A Analyst for its International Division, which oversees the company's operations outside the United States. This role is pivotal in providing financial partnership and support to various teams globally, focusing on growth in regions such as Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia Pacific, and Canada. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial professionals, ensuring that financial insights are accessible and actionable across the organization. In this position, the Senior FP&A Analyst will take full financial ownership of the P&L for the international division. Responsibilities include managing the planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, which encompass monthly close activities, risk mitigation planning, and collaboration with the enterprise FP&A team for consolidation and reporting. The analyst will follow project plans and milestones for each business unit, ensuring that forecasts are thoroughly vetted and submitted on time. The role also involves preparing consolidated presentations that summarize the division's forecasts, highlighting key drivers, risks, and opportunities. As a subject matter expert on specific business units, the analyst will adjust forecasting models for revenue and expense projections and maintain reporting packages for senior executives and operational leaders. This position requires close collaboration with Financial Operations teams to ensure consistency in financial statements and to assess the impact of local currency fluctuations on the business. Overall, this role is designed for a results-oriented individual who can work effectively with multicultural teams across multiple time zones, demonstrating excellent project management skills and attention to detail. The Senior FP&A Analyst will be based in North Bethesda, MD, in a hybrid work environment, allowing for flexibility between in-office and remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Support the full financial ownership and management of the P&L of the international division.
  • Support the planning, budgeting, and forecasting process across the entire international division, including monthly close, forecast, budget, and risk mitigation plan.
  • Follow project plans, milestones, and reviews for each business unit that rolls up to the international division to ensure that final forecasts are thoroughly vetted and submitted on time.
  • Prepare consolidated presentations that summarize the forecast of the division including key drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Be the subject matter expert on specific business units of the International Division.
  • Prepare and adjust forecasting models to be used for both revenue and expenses projections.
  • Maintain and adjust reporting packages used with senior executives and operational leaders to provide both high level and detailed feedback, insight, and recommendations to the business on its financial performance.
  • Partner with Financial Operations teams (accounting, treasury, tax) to ensure consistency throughout financial statements.
  • Assess the impact of local currency fluctuations on our business and partner with our accounting and treasury teams to take steps to mitigate volatility linked with foreign exchange.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • MBA or master's degree in a related field preferred.
  • At least 3+ years' experience performing financial modeling, reporting, planning, and financial statement analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced knowledge of Excel required (financial modeling and analysis techniques).
  • High level use of Tableau preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Spanish or French preferred but not required.
  • Ability to communicate and explain complex financial issues to non-financial professionals and to interact well with all levels within the organization.
  • Results-oriented individual with a strong sense of urgency.
