About the position

The Senior FP&A Analyst role at Thrivent is crucial for providing foundational financial support to business leaders, enabling proactive and meaningful business reviews and strategic discussions. This position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to collaborate and influence across the organization. The role focuses on financial planning and analysis (FP&A) for the Operations organization, supporting various teams and functions. Key responsibilities include actuals management reporting, forecasting, and assisting in the creation of the Operations annual and long-range plan.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business leaders to engage in financial planning activities and support decision-making through strategic financial analyses.
  • Provide financial analysis, planning/forecasting, and decision-making support to multiple business areas, including quarterly forecasts and annual planning.
  • Lead the preparation of detailed budgets and forecasts for FP&A Business Partners and leaders to drive decisions and forecast results.
  • Perform complex ad hoc analytical assignments and modeling to identify business opportunities and present recommendations.
  • Support FP&A Business Partners in managing over $1 billion in organization expenses and deliver reporting for spending identification and cost reduction.
  • Partner with business leaders in monthly reviews, updating, and variance analysis of financial forecasts, adjusting as needed.
  • Collaborate with initiative owners to identify essential data analysis and measurements for initiative success.
  • Support resource investment analysis processes across a portfolio of projects.
  • Prepare communications and lead meetings to present findings on business performance, KPIs, and investment analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance required; advanced degree or professional designation preferred.
  • FP&A, financial analysis, or public accounting experience required.
  • Successful experience in financial forecasting, budgeting, business partnership, and financial modeling preferred.
  • 2+ years of financial planning & analysis experience or similar experience required.
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in finance or professional designation (e.g., CPA, CMA, MBA) preferred.
  • Experience in public accounting preferred.
