About the position

Vanguard is currently seeking a Financial Analyst to provide consultative support to our internal clients by preparing analyses and models that enable strategic decision-making. In this role, you will collaborate closely with senior leaders to understand their financial needs and assist in the annual planning process. As a Financial Analyst, you will be an integral part of the business landscape and a steward of Vanguard's success. Your responsibilities will include partnering with Senior Leadership and their management teams to prepare financial analyses and models that assist in evaluating strategic business initiatives, capital investments, and new or existing clients and products within Vanguard's business units. Your analysis may encompass pricing strategies for clients and new products, cost-benefit analysis using the discounted cash flow method, and client and business segment profitability analysis through appropriate activity-based costing methods. You will be assigned to work on complex issues independently, creating innovative ways to analyze and solve the most challenging problems faced by your clients. Building and cultivating relationships with new and existing internal business clients will be essential to understand their ongoing financial analysis needs. You will also develop financial and non-financial measures of business performance for project and investment evaluation and control. Engaging in the annual planning process and ongoing quarterly forecasts will be part of your responsibilities, including understanding and validating the rationale for multi-year financial forecasts and preparing quarterly finance review presentations for the Senior Leadership team. Timely and accurate financial information dissemination will be crucial for efficient resource control within business units, projects, and services.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Senior Leadership and their management teams to prepare financial analyses and models.
  • Assist in the evaluation of strategic business initiatives, capital investments, and new/existing clients and products.
  • Conduct pricing analysis for clients and new products and services.
  • Perform cost-benefit analysis using the discounted cash flow method to quantify impacts on revenue, operating expenses, assets, and cash flow.
  • Conduct client and business segment profitability analysis using activity-based costing methods.
  • Work independently on complex issues and create innovative solutions to difficult problems.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with internal business clients to understand their financial analysis needs.
  • Develop financial and non-financial measures of business performance for project evaluation and control.
  • Engage in the annual planning process and ongoing quarterly forecasts.
  • Prepare and present quarterly finance review presentations to Senior Leadership.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • Graduate degree and/or Professional Certification (CPA, CFM or CMA) preferred.
  • Minimum five years of directly related FP&A (or equivalent) experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and drive solutions.
  • Broad knowledge and perspective of Vanguard business preferred.
  • Experience in financial services industry or consulting preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience in Hyperion Essbase and PeopleSoft Financials required.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (Written and Oral).
  • Ability to quickly become knowledgeable in current and future policies, practices, trends, and information affecting Vanguard's business.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
