About the position

The Senior FP&A Analyst at Norfolk Southern is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing operating expenses. This role involves providing high-level financial analysis to management, collaborating with business partners, and mentoring junior analysts. The position aims to enhance financial forecasting and improve departmental processes through strong analytical skills and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Build strong working relationships with business partners to support operating expense budgets and forecasts.
• Evaluate trends and provide recommendations to improve financial forecasts.
• Create variance analysis reports with commentary and financial models for management.
• Demonstrate leadership by coaching and mentoring FP&A Analysts.
• Foster a team-oriented environment and strive for continuous improvement in department processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (Master's Degree or MBA preferred).
• 2-4 years of experience in financial analysis (5-7 years preferred).
• Proficiency in SAP and advanced MS Excel/Spreadsheets.
• Experience with MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, and MS Word.
