About the position

As a Senior Fraud Analyst on the Fraud Data Team, you will be responsible for identifying potential fraud risks across various data hierarchies. This role focuses on enhancing claims processes and managing claim risks intelligently. It requires a deep understanding of fraud concepts, data pipeline support, statistical experimentation, and the development of reports and dashboards for diverse audiences. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to influence and execute fraud risk strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential fraud risk at all applicable levels of data hierarchy.
  • Enable safer claims processes for users and help manage claim risk intelligently.
  • Leverage external and internal data to develop best-in-class fraud policies.
  • Work with large data sets to solve ambiguous problems using analytical and statistical approaches.
  • Collaborate with SMEs and decision-makers to develop data-driven policies and models for fraud risk mitigation.
  • Develop dashboards, analytical frameworks, and reporting models for key stakeholders.
  • Deploy modern data management tools to curate important data sets and identify areas for automation.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines for reporting, modeling, and machine learning initiatives.
  • Evaluate and acquire new internal and external data sets for business decision-making.
  • Maintain accuracy within all data sets used in reporting and analytical processes.
  • Develop ongoing analyses specific to integrated fraud solutions within the Assurant ecosystem.
  • Drive configuration review discussions and apply agreed changes.
  • Take ownership of data inputs and outputs related to assigned environments.
  • Work with internal partners to develop solutions mitigating fraud risk across different lines of business.
  • Analyze existing processes using statistics to optimize changes.
  • Document existing and new fraud workflows with applicable metrics and measures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field, or relevant work experience.
  • 3+ years' experience in analytics, with progressively complex work and senior roles.
  • Proven track record of solving complex problems with an understanding of data, product, and business impact.
  • Proficient in at least one quantitative tool such as Python, R, or Stata.
  • Expertise in data visualization tools like Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Advanced SQL skills are a must.
  • 3+ years' experience in Risk/Fraud is a plus.
  • Understanding of workflow management tools (Airflow, SSIS, UC4).
  • Strong ability to extract patterns and trends using statistical techniques.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to think outside the box.
  • Organized and self-motivated, comfortable operating within ambiguity.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Intellectually curious, data-driven, result-oriented, and eager to learn.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with payment processing lifecycle and chargeback dispute process.
  • Experience working with machine learning and data science teams.
