About the position

The Senior Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Analyst at Savvee Consulting is responsible for managing and processing FOIA requests, appeals, and litigation backlogs for a federal client. This role requires a deep understanding of FOIA regulations and a commitment to quality and customer support. The analyst will work remotely and focus on reducing backlog cases while ensuring compliance with legal and departmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Address FOIA requests, appeals, and litigation backlogs, as well as other disclosure products as assigned.
  • Reduce the number of backlog cases of varying volume and complexity by focusing on the oldest requests and appeals.
  • Support the intake of FOIA requests in accordance with HHS FOIA regulations and standard operating procedures.
  • Process FOIA litigation productions in accordance with the law and US Department of Justice guidelines, ensuring court deadlines for interim release are met.
  • Provide services to support department level activities related to policy, implementation, and compliance with the FOIA Privacy Act of 1974 and HHS regulations.
  • Uphold FOIA training objectives across the assigned department.
  • Manage and maintain the FOIA website, including FOIA reading room postings and evaluating content.
  • Provide FOIA management tools on behalf of the government.
  • Support research and development required to implement innovative technology to improve production rates and reduce processing times for FOIA requests, appeals, and litigation.
  • Understand organizational policies and procedures for accuracy of solutions and deliverables to the client.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality and customer support.

Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • Ten or more years of professional experience
  • Five years of FOIA related experience
  • Previous experience utilizing FOIA Xpress
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office's suite of products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
