About the position

We're hiring a Senior Front End Engineer to support one of North America's leading brand and apparel companies. In this role, you will act as the key liaison between the team's architect and engineers, focusing on implementation and execution. The architect will provide ongoing feedback from the team, and you will help to improve and change designs accordingly. Your responsibilities will include determining how to break down design tasks and assigning them to your team. You will be supporting the 'Bag & Checkout' team, working on both new feature development and enhancements to existing features. Given the retail space, the 'peak season' is a significant push for the customer to ensure all platforms run smoothly through the holidays. You will bring a strong understanding of systems design, pipelines, and CI/CD. Your role will encompass 80% solution design and 20% coding. You will work in tandem with the architect to enhance the overall customer experience. Collaboration will be key as you work closely with Domain Architects, Technology Managers, and Business Analysts to ensure solutions align with stakeholder expectations. You will also help drive infrastructure design solutions. Recently, the team has completed GraphQL containerization (from Lambda to EKS), and before the upcoming peak season, they aim to use the EKS service live. Your expertise will be crucial in achieving these goals.

Responsibilities

• Act as the key liaison between the team's architect and engineers.
• Focus on implementation and execution of design tasks.
• Break down design tasks and assign them to team members.
• Support the 'Bag & Checkout' team with new feature development and enhancements.
• Ensure all platforms run smoothly during peak season.
• Collaborate with Domain Architects, Technology Managers, and Business Analysts to align solutions with stakeholder expectations.
• Drive infrastructure design solutions.
• Work on GraphQL containerization and migration from Lambda to EKS.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant software engineering experience in developing, deploying, scaling, and maintaining software applications in cloud-based services and/or service-oriented architectures.
• 5+ years of experience with JavaScript applications deployed to a cloud environment, including experience with AWS.
• Strong middle tier knowledge and experience with Apollo GraphQL.
• Strong experience with EKS and Lambda.
• High level of ownership to drive strategy and execution.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly in global support project experience.
• Experience supporting a migration from Lambda to EKS.
• Experience with module federation.
• Domain-related experience in retail, ecommerce, or product systems.
