About the position

As a Senior Full Stack Java Developer in the Equity Derivatives team at UBS, you will play a pivotal role in transforming our organization into a more agile entity. Your primary focus will be on designing, developing, and supporting front-office web applications and electronic trading systems. You will collaborate closely with business users to translate complex business and regulatory requirements into innovative and effective solutions. This role requires a strong emphasis on applying a broad range of software engineering practices to ensure the quality, security, reliability, and compliance of our solutions, addressing both functional and non-functional needs. In this position, you will work alongside a global team to further develop and innovate the trading platform. This includes building observability into our solutions, monitoring production health, resolving incidents, and remediating the root causes of risks and issues. You will also be expected to share your knowledge and expertise with colleagues, assist in hiring efforts, and contribute regularly to our engineering culture and internal communities. Your work will be integral to the Principal Flow Trading stream in New York, where you will be part of a global development team that closely collaborates with the front office to build and support automated electronic trading applications. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support front-office web applications and electronic trading systems.
  • Translate complex business and regulatory requirements into innovative solutions.
  • Apply a broad range of software engineering practices to ensure quality, security, reliability, and compliance of solutions.
  • Work closely with the global team to innovate the platform and build observability into solutions.
  • Monitor production health and help resolve incidents, remediating root causes of risks and issues.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues and contribute to the engineering culture.
  • Assist with hiring and support internal communities.

Requirements

  • Excellent full stack programming skills in Javascript web application frameworks (React/Vue) and Java.
  • Experience in establishing and exploiting DevOps capabilities.
  • Strong communicator with experience in a front office environment.
  • Hands-on technical expertise with an interest in learning new technologies and practices.
  • Experience in a similar position focused on derivatives technology.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new challenges and manage multiple tasks.
