About the position

The Senior Functional Product Analyst position at Highmark Health is a critical role that supports various analytical aspects of the product management lifecycle, specifically within a sub-product scope that encompasses one or more business application components. The incumbent will utilize their judgment and discretion to collaborate with customers and business stakeholders to understand both moderate to complex customer needs and business capability requirements. This role involves identifying opportunities, creating business cases, and performing advanced cost sheet analyses to support product strategy and evolve the product roadmap. The analyst will translate these high-level business needs into detailed business requirements for new or modified business capabilities, conduct research, and analyze moderately complex data to determine business problems and trends. Additionally, the role requires assessing business processes and rules to recommend opportunities for process improvements or new capabilities. The Senior Functional Product Analyst will work closely with business stakeholders and delivery partners to prioritize business capabilities in the product backlog. They will provide advanced root cause analysis and corrective action plans, ensuring that customer needs are verified and governed for on-time, quality delivery. The incumbent will also identify, document, and resolve moderate to complex risks, defects, and issues while analyzing market trends for competitive insights to drive business value statements and platform recommendations. This position requires a thorough understanding of the assigned business platform and its integration points to effectively manage delivery across the product management lifecycle. Furthermore, the analyst will mentor junior resources, sharing their functional and organizational knowledge to advance their professional track career. The role demands active participation in the full product management delivery lifecycle, leveraging advanced knowledge of modern product management practices such as Agile/Scrum and Kanban. The analyst will lead various aspects of business analysis, including business requirements definition, documentation, user testing, and ensuring minimal production defects. Effective communication with team members, customers, partners, and management is essential, as the analyst will assist in leading requirement walkthroughs and sprint reviews, reporting project status, and providing accurate documentation. Compliance with required standards and obtaining necessary approvals throughout the product management and delivery project lifecycle is also a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with and provide strategic counsel to customers, business stakeholders, vendors, designers, IT delivery partners, and other team members to capture capability needs and drive quality business solutions.
  • Create and maintain deliverables such as business vision, business requirements, customer personas, stakeholder and/or journey maps, product capability roadmaps, product KPIs/metrics, and implementation/delivery plans.
  • Participate in the full product management delivery life cycle by actively engaging with business and IT delivery teams, leveraging knowledge of modern product management practices such as Agile/Scrum and Kanban.
  • Lead various aspects of business analysis, including business requirements definition and documentation, business user testing, and ensuring minimal production defects.
  • Effectively communicate with team members, customers, partners, and management, assisting with or leading business and product requirement walkthroughs and sprint reviews.
  • Actively participate and contribute to sprint plans and reviews to ensure product capability development aligns with customer needs and defined business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance for required standards and obtain all necessary approvals throughout the product management and delivery project lifecycle.
  • Provide guidance to junior resources within the team and share best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 6 years of related and progressive experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
  • 5 years in a Business Analysis and/or Analyst role.

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field.

  • 3 years in the Health Insurance Industry.
