About the position

The Senior Furniture Designer at Slate is responsible for collaborating with various teams to deliver high-quality design solutions for commercial furnishing projects. This role emphasizes customer communication, technical specifications, and project management, ensuring that all design processes are executed seamlessly from initial consultation to final delivery.

Responsibilities

• Work with sales team to create workspace solutions for clients.
• Coordinate and implement the design process from initial sales consultation through programming and design development, specification, client presentations, and working drawings.
• Serve as an expert in product knowledge and applications relevant to the role.
• Manage and maintain multiple design projects of varying size, scope, complexity, and duration, meeting all committed deadlines and deliverables.
• Clearly communicate verbally and visually design solutions and product applications.
• Lead the design conversation during customer tours.

Requirements

• Ability to draw and specify using CET strongly preferred.
• Previous experience with contract furniture design strongly preferred.
• General familiarity with MS Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor's Degree in interior design or related field required, or an Associate's Degree with applicable professional experience.
• 3+ years of experience working in a contract furniture dealership.
• Steelcase experience preferred.
• NCIDQ Certification preferred.
