About the position

The Senior GCP Cloud Developer will focus on developer enablement, empowering developers new to cloud-based deployments by providing guidance, building tools, and establishing best practices for working within Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role acts as a bridge between cloud infrastructure and development teams, ensuring seamless adoption of cloud technologies, improved workflows, and delivery of scalable, cloud-native applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and technical mentorship to developers on cloud-native development principles and GCP services.
• Design and build internal tools, libraries, and frameworks to simplify cloud development processes.
• Develop comprehensive documentation and run workshops to upskill developers on cloud deployment pipelines and GCP service usage.
• Advocate for and implement best practices for cloud development, including microservices architecture and CI/CD.
• Collaborate with software development, operations, and platform teams to ensure developer-friendly cloud infrastructure.
• Conduct code reviews and provide feedback on cloud-based implementations.
• Help build and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
• Assist in the design and implementation of cloud-native solutions using GCP services.
• Assist teams in performance tuning, cost optimization, and scaling of cloud applications.
• Collect feedback from developers to continuously improve the developer experience.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software development with at least 2 years on GCP or other cloud platforms.
• Strong experience with GCP services including compute, serverless, databases, and networking.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.
• Proven experience mentoring developers in cloud environments.
• Hands-on experience with building CI/CD pipelines and automating cloud deployments.
• Knowledge of infrastructure automation and IaC tools such as Terraform.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

• GCP Professional Cloud Developer or GCP Professional Cloud Architect certification.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Internal Developer Platforms like Humanitec.
• Familiarity with serverless architectures and event-driven design patterns.
• Knowledge of cloud security practices.
