About the position

As the Senior Generalist, Human Resources at GXO, you will play a pivotal role in managing the full scope of Human Resources (HR) activities. This includes overseeing staffing, training and development, compensation and benefits administration, and ensuring a union-free work environment. Your responsibilities will extend to championing our company values, which are essential for fostering a differentiated and engaged workforce. You will be working closely with the operations team, providing counsel and guidance on policies, procedures, and compliance with state and federal regulations. Your role will also involve keeping management informed about internal and external HR developments that could impact overall effectiveness. In addition to these responsibilities, you will facilitate new hire orientation, ensuring that new employees have a positive onboarding experience. You will assist supervisors with performance management, which includes delivering disciplinary actions for hourly employees when necessary. Maintaining personnel files and training materials will also be part of your duties, ensuring that all documents and manuals are current, accurate, confidential, and compliant with company policies and government regulations. This position is crucial for supporting the operational needs of the company while also promoting a positive work environment that enhances employee satisfaction and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the operations team to provide counsel and guidance regarding policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Keep management and operations informed of internal and external HR developments that may impact overall effectiveness.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure a positive onboarding experience for new employees.
  • Assist supervisors with performance management, including delivering disciplinary actions for hourly employees.
  • Maintain personnel files and training materials, ensuring documents are current, accurate, confidential, and compliant with regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience.
  • 2 years of HR experience, including compensation, HRIS administration, HR management, benefits administration, payroll, and employee relations.
  • Experience working in HRIS and time/attendance systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional HR certification.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present organized and thorough information.
