FirstEnergy is seeking a Senior Generation Specialist to join our team at the Fort Martin Power Station, a regulated base-load generating facility under Mon Power, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This position plays a crucial role in the Technical Services Team, which is responsible for monitoring the condition of generation electrical equipment and providing operational and maintenance support. The equipment involved includes generators, exciters, precipitator controls, motors, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, protective relays, control relays, distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), and other related electrical equipment and instrumentation and controls. The Senior Generation Specialist will be tasked with developing and utilizing graphic displays as diagnostic tools, investigating and resolving system malfunctions, and advising technician-level employees on configuration, programming, and troubleshooting. This role will also involve participation in upgrades and system improvements, assessing operating conditions, and developing plans for the continued health and operation of the equipment. The specialist will assist in solving operational issues through proper planning and execution of projects aimed at correcting inefficiencies, preparing financial justifications, and coordinating activities among technical services personnel. In addition to technical responsibilities, the position requires conducting research to improve work processes, analyzing data, and recommending solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical technology, particularly in DCS and PLC systems, and will be familiar with industry standards and applicable codes related to plant operations and maintenance. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams. The role demands a self-starter who can prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively, lead contractors, and maintain good working relationships across departments. The candidate must also be willing to work extended hours and respond to equipment-related issues on a 24-hour basis.
