About the position

The Senior GIS Applications Specialist at Colorado Springs Utilities will utilize expertise in the Esri ArcGIS platform to deliver geospatial technology solutions across the utility's services. This role involves both independent and collaborative efforts to design, configure, and support mobile and web-based GIS applications, ensuring effective geospatial data management and user training.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with internal stakeholders to identify solution requirements and provide progress updates and user training.
  • Design new datasets and author maps in ArcGIS Pro.
  • Design new hosted datasets and web maps in ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS.
  • Configure web applications using ArcGIS Experience Builder, Story Maps, Dashboards, and Instant Apps.
  • Configure mobile applications using ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, and Quick Capture.
  • Assist with the administration of ArcGIS Online Organization and maintain ArcGIS Enterprise deployment, including ArcGIS server and portal for ArcGIS.
  • Collaborate with Asset Management Technology team on large-scale, enterprise-wide projects.
  • Write Arcade expressions in web environments and Python scripts using ArcPy and/or Python API for ArcGIS to automate tasks.
  • Create data integrations with non-spatial systems.

Requirements

  • Experience designing geodatabase feature classes/tables with ArcGIS desktop software such as ArcMap/ArcCatalog and/or ArcGIS Pro.
  • Experience with map authoring techniques in a desktop GIS environment, including symbolization and creating labeling expressions.
  • Ability to work with internal stakeholders to develop GIS solution requirements, configure technical solutions, and train end users.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with writing scripts using Python (ArcPy and/or ArcGIS API for Python) and/or Arcade expressions.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS mobile applications such as Field Maps, Survey123, Quick Capture, or Workforce.
  • Experience with designing and configuring web-based viewing, editing, or reporting applications using Experience Builder, Web App Builder, Configurable Apps, or Instant Apps.
  • Experience with Geometric Network and/or Utility Network implementation and maintenance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
