About the position

The GIS Analyst role at Lumen focuses on integrating operations data to enhance spatial understanding of the Lumen fiber network. This position specializes in GIS technology design and development, involving the planning, building, and maintenance of geographic visualizations, data feeds, and network planning models. The role requires applying advanced engineering and network principles to solve complex problems through GIS data analytics.

Responsibilities

• Support the construction, maintenance and evolution of Lumen's GIS planning platform.
• Translate network, demand, and implementation data structures into front-end map-based visualization.
• Create new data pipelines for GIS data structures to be ingested into apps based on business use cases.
• Lead key AI/ML initiatives in driving GIS data analytics.
• Deliver Locate Cost Avoidance/Recovery efforts.
• Handle all system management and lead data for locating, including scripting.
• Design and integrate databases from geographical specifications.
• Modify existing GIS systems and adapt new hardware and technology to support program performance.
• Apply mathematics and scientific approaches to create schemas and models for GIS program designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, geography, surveying, engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of related experience.
• Experience with ESRI ArcMap and Portal Map capabilities.
• Proficiency with database programming languages such as SQL, R, or Python.
• Proficiency with front-end design languages such as HTML, CSS, Javascript and mapping.
• Experience utilizing mapping tools and GPS measuring.
