About the position

SAIC is seeking a Senior Google Cloud Engineer to lead operations and maintenance on the Google Cloud platform. This role involves designing, deploying, and managing cloud solutions while ensuring operational efficiency and security. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to enhance cloud infrastructure and implement best practices in cloud security and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and manage robust, secure, scalable, highly available, and dynamic solutions on Google Cloud.
• Collaborate with Engineers, Developers, DBAs, and System Administrators to design and improve cloud solutions.
• Deploy and maintain infrastructure as code (IAC) and SRE principles using tools like Terraform or Google Cloud Deployment Manager.
• Ensure efficient functioning of data storage and processing in accordance with company security policies.
• Proactively monitor the health of cloud infrastructure and resolve issues as they arise.
• Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Conduct system performance analysis and optimize for scalability and efficiency.
• Automate regular operational tasks to reduce human error and increase efficiency.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Perform root cause analysis for service interruptions and create preventative measures.
• Stay updated on new Google Cloud Platform services and features.
• Manage and maintain monitoring solutions for performance and operational health.
• Implement industry cloud best practices for security, performance, cost, and resiliency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience, or 12 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Proven background in cloud environments with knowledge in Agile methodologies, CI/CD tools, and containerization.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, and Selenium.
• Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, BASH, SQL, and NoSQL.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Agile collaboration tools such as Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
• Knowledge of security automation tools like SAST and DAST.
• Familiarity with cyber tools such as Aviatrix, Orca, and Splunk.
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
