About the position

The Senior Grant Accountant at Bassett Healthcare plays a crucial role in supporting all aspects of grant accounting. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and private agency rules and regulations, as well as internal policies. The role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including management, staff, auditors, and funding agencies, to ensure the effective administration of sponsored programs throughout the grants cycle, from pre-award to post-award and grant closeout procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of grant accounting, including the Grant Accounting INFOR module.
  • Review contracts to ensure compliance and verify expenses.
  • Prepare reports and vouchers for submission via online portals.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Collaborate closely with the Office of Grants Management and Research senior leadership.
  • Assist in all components of the grants cycle, including pre-award, post-award, sub-contract management, and grant closeout procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison with internal partners and funding agencies to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and private agency rules and regulations.
  • Oversee accounting tasks related to grants management and ensure proper accounting treatment and general ledger postings.
  • Prepare and import general ledger entries and reconciliations for grant portfolios.
  • Review restricted fund transactions for adherence to funding agency guidelines and internal policies.
  • Manage grant billing and invoicing, and conduct direct cash draws as appropriate.
  • Prepare and review grants and contracts expenditures for completeness and accuracy prior to submission.
  • Prepare working papers and schedules for external audits and financial reports as required.
  • Support the monthly financial close process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in grants management, preferably in healthcare, higher education, or university grants setting.
  • Minimum 2 years' hands-on general ledger accounting experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail, written communication skills, and strong analytical skills.
